In my experience if a boss doesn't trust you for any job it's critical to understand where the concerns are coming from and communicate effectively how you will address those concerns. Providing regular updates and asking guidance if there are decisions you think the boss would want to be involved in can be ways to build trust. In addition, managing expectations and understand what outcomes your boss is looking for is important so you can go back and assess if the job was a success for not.

If you feel untrusted, try to ask for feedback from the manager in question to verify that, that is the case. If so, seek feedback how you could aquire trust, if no credible ideas are being communicated, should you stay in this role? Perhaps it is time to look elsewhere, feeling not trusted I believe is a show stopper and will likely hold your growth back, both professionally and monetary.

Get an objective assessment of your capability for the new job. If the outcome is in agreement with the view of your boss, plan for your learning and development in coordinating with your boss. Otherwise, reflect and act on how and why your capabilities have appeared less than reality. Work on your work communication and relation.
