However, know that once you reach the top with an EdD or PhD, you may find that you've hit a glass ceiling in your school district. I earned an EdD in '17. This was a FT program on top of FT in-person teaching, PT teaching online, and raising a family. My pay and status at the school didn't go up. And I wasn't regarded as an expert in my field. But I would not have been able to move into the next stage of my career without this degree. These studies empowered me and helped me articulate 30 years of experience, and I now guide other teachers as a personal coach.
