GitHub, Kaggle, and Medium were three game-changers when I finished my data science BootCamp. Even if you don't have a graduate degree in a relevant field, showing that you've completed end-to-end projects holds value. I've also found that publishing my research on Medium (especially in Towards Data Science) has helped me gain exposure as a though leader. The recruiters evaluate the expertise of candidates based on their degrees & more importantly their work experience in the related fields. Experience is prioritized, but the importance of degrees is debated. I sympathise with the hiring managers. They want to quantify & minimise the risks. They want to avoid false positives by rejecting those who don't meet their standards at the expense of potentially rejecting some really good ones. One quantifying metric is graduate degrees. You can provide alternative quantifying metrics like published research papers, internships, open-source contributions and relevant side-projects to make up for no degree.
