Write a book! There's no better way to propel yourself to thought leadership than to distill your wisdom into a book, then speak on the topic.

Be aware of your positioning and role, which could be a problem. If your counterpart sees you just as a project manager, you will probably not be credible as a thought leader. So work on your positioning first. Introduce yourself as a thought leader. It's a new role. Once they see you as a thought leader your credibility will get a boost.

You don't need to listen to everyone's advice no matter how accomplished someone may seem. Sometimes you might see things other's don't.

In my view, consider the preferred communication channels and formats of your target audience. Whether they prefer detailed reports, interactive presentations, or concise summaries, adapting your content delivery to suit their preferences enhances engagement and comprehension. Additionally, personalize your messaging to resonate with their specific interests and concerns, demonstrating empathy and understanding of their unique perspectives. By tailoring your thought leadership content to the preferences and priorities of your target audience, you can maximize its impact and effectiveness in driving positive change within your organization or industry.

Most important aspect of this however is demonstration of that knowledge whether it is in the form of best practice or platform/software specific skill set. And then allowing people to come back to you with their own experiences and thoughts on the subject at hand. Thus, incorporating knowledge sharing and collaboration is the key to thought leadership.

The term 'thought leader" is gross and "culty." Like that Harry Potter looking guy who was all over social media a few years ago talking about how millennials don't want to work anymore. What was that guy's name? Anyway, there has to be a better term for this. We should probably get our best "thought leaders" on that.
