If you don't do that, you might not get anything done, hence gain no experience. Be proactive, constantly ask, and get involved on your own in different activities. When you do that and show your skills, that is when you will be able to create a good and lasting impression on your seniors and that will increase your network and opportunities.

As an Intern, you are considered an addition to the team and a fresh mind for the organization. Which doesn't mean you restrict your opinions and contributions because your lack of experience. You need to be proactive by doing beyond your responsibility. Network and absorb knowledge from collogues and seniors of other departments, ask your manager for responsibilities that will excite you to learn more. More importantly, don't stop asking questions! Internships is a chance for you to learn beyond your textbooks and contribute by what actually makes an impact to the organizations in the industry.
