What do you do if you want to level up your web development career?

Please do your due diligence to understand HTML, CSS & JAVASCRIPT. Core knowledge will make it easier to expand your technology and frameworks. When I started this journey I thought I could learn this in a few weeks time. I was wrong! You will always be learning more in depth about frameworks and technology. As the title reads “Master Basics”, so please be sure to understand and become proficient in the basics before you delve deeper into development.

To advance in web development, mastering basics is key. Hone skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks. Learn server-side scripting and databases. Enhance problem-solving, stay updated, and engage in projects for career growth.

Absolutely, mastering basics is the key, because everything is build on top of that.HTML builds the structure, css adds the styling , and js is basically for interactivity. For html , get familiar with tags specially headings, paragraphs, links, images , semantics html etc, for styling get to know positioning, layout, box models, typography, colors, for javascript learn the basics, promises, async await, error handling,DOM, DOM manipulation. Once you are done with basics start building stuffs. Learn how browsers works, basics networking , how to work with devtools. make sure to get a lot of practices .

Get Comfortable with JavaScript! Before diving into React, make sure your JavaScript skills are rock solid. Understanding things like functions, scope, and ES6+ features will set you up for success. As your apps grow, you'll need to manage state efficiently. Dive into React's built-in state management, context API, or explore libraries like Redux. The best way to learn is by doing. Start building projects, start small and gradually increase complexity. Real world projects will build your skills and make your portfolio stand out.

Before moving to learn frameworks practice Javascript regularly, try to solve problems, and try to build small projects before trying to build big or clone projects. Learn modern Javascript ES6+

Learning frameworks is next steps, which frameworks to learn? Answers depends on what you are trying to build lor where you want to work. You can go with any React, Angular , vue etc. Next step is learning routing , and state management etc. Or you can go with meta frameworks like Nextjs(provides file based routing, server components, client side or server side rendering, build tools) or Remix( they have build react-router provide similar features like layouts, data fetching, error handling etc) . Learn one whichever fulfills your need and master it . Read docs , reach out community. Build small projects , then add on to it.

Apply your skills and knowledge by working on real-world projects that challenge you to solve problems and implement solutions creatively. Build a diverse portfolio showcasing your projects, demonstrating your expertise and proficiency to potential employers or clients.

Nothing beats building projects when it comes to learning a framework. Make sure not get stuck in tutorial hell. Start building stuffs, if you get stuck google it , use stack overflow, chatgpt(or any other ai tool) , documentation(best). Its okay to get stuck ask for help, take breaks , have fun learning.

Once you are done with frontend start learning backend , you can search for roadmaps, it's easily available. Choose your language and framework , make sure you understand protocols,servers , how to build http server, request , response, status codes, APIs, how to build different APIs like REST( versioning, resources, error handling). Databases (relational, nosql) how to work with these. Even if you are not a backend or full stack developer having basic understanding of backend helps you get better as a frontend developer. There's also a trend of backend as a service like firebase, supabase.

Expand your expertise beyond front-end development by learning backend technologies such as Node.js, Django, or Express.js. Gain insights into server-side programming, databases, and API development to become a full-stack developer capable of building end-to-end web applications.

Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and advancements in the web development industry. Follow influential blogs, forums, and social media channels to stay informed about emerging tools, frameworks, and best practices that can enhance your skills and keep you competitive in the field.
