What do you do if you want to leave your full-time robotics job and become self-employed?

First you must think: Am I ready to be self-employed? Am I ready to be an entrepreneur? Being self-employed or entrepreneur are very different things. But what is similar is that they are situations that have their risks. As an entrepreneur I am aware of the risks but they do not scare me or rather they do not paralyze me. That's the first thing you have to think about. Are you mentally prepared to have your own clients? That is, to have to go out and find them.

Before saying goodbye to your job, think about the risks. First, money matters. Compare the steady income from your job to the uncertain earnings from self-employment. Check your savings. How long can they support you? Next, think about your skills. Are there enough people who need your robotics know-how? Can you find clients easily? Lastly, have a backup plan just in case your new gig doesn't pick up speed right away. It's like having a safety net!
