I do have formal education and a degree (two in fact!) but nothing formal in social media marketing, or even marketing. Does it matter? Probably not What you need to do is to show you know your subject matter. Even the most skilled people in social media will struggle to create good, informative content for a subject they are unfamiliar with. Use your knowledge of the subject matter paired with your skills in social media to show that you can manage social media for a brand in a particular niche.

ACTUALLY USE SOCIAL MEDIA YOURSELF! Get all the accounts, play around with content for your own channels or brand and have fun with it. Then take all the courses, and if you don't have money take the FREE ones like HubSpot's social media certification. Just DO ALL THE THINGS <3 You will eventually get to where you want to be through grit, determination and experience. You got this!
