I think the easiest way to identify the sector in agribusiness is by stage in the value chain. Are you more pre farm gate in fertilizer, crop inputs, animal health, animal feed, genetics or are you more post farm gate so food and ingredient manufacturing, biomaterials, bioenergy. Once you identify that then relevant pieces of data such as geographical location, consumer sentiment within that region and understanding the distribution channels in that geographical location will allow you to master agribusiness in various sectors. Lastly challenge yourself to identify how your specific focus area impacts the rest of the chain.

I do not think this has to be the final stage. If you are brand new to agribusiness. Some general knowledge via the internet is a great starting point. Professionals and experts in the agribusiness sector WANT to share their knowledge and stories as we are seeing less individuals understanding how the agribusiness value chain works. Be open be brave and open to learning different pieces of information in the sector.
