Many people become overwhelmed as a deadline looms. One tactic I have found to be helpful is to monitor progress. Break down deliverables into smaller pieces and score them with a rubric designed for the project. In this way you are able to assess items that are low-hanging fruit and those which are mammoths. The bigger items with more risk get broken into smaller pieces and those with skill gaps get outsourced. Progress can be monitored in this way when the items have been assessed and assigned at the most discrete level.
