Empowering others is the key to success because it is only through exploration of ideas offered that the best solutions may be identified. However, before success often comes failure. It is important that team members know it is okay to make mistakes and it is okay to implement ideas that miss the mark. Until the team is secure in their ability to try and to fail, the largest successes will be elusive. An important question then is how does a leader make their team feel supported in both success and failure. It is important to build a culture that values individual contributions, works collaboratively toward goals, and supports each other always. This creates a safe place to try new things and to continuously improve together.
