What do you do if the Business Development interview ended on a sour note?

As I am actively looking for a new role in BDE, I've recently being interviewed by some people. They tried to belittle me and dominate in a way that they know everything, and I am the one who knows nothing. The BDMs or the directors who took the interview are having a next level of fake attitude as they're giving millions as salary to me. ? Whatever a BDE declares has to be true and transparent as he might get in trouble if he makes false promises and huge fake business figures. ? He must be well versed if he's not very good into technicalities but knows how to sell. ? BDE must ask about how the company is doing as of now in figures. ? BDE must resonate with company's mission and vision before even going for the interview ??

In my opinion, facing a rough interview is an opportunity for growth. Take a moment to reflect on the missteps – were you unprepared, lacked confidence, or stumbled in communication? Did you misread something crucial? Gauge your enthusiasm, curiosity, and problem-solving flair. Be honest about strengths and weaknesses, turn those notes into lessons. It's not just about what went wrong; it's about crafting a better you for the next round. Learn, adapt, and come back stronger!

Learn from the experience and stay positive. You need tact, strong self belief, to be a radiator and not a drain, and to think strategically. I’ve been in meetings where the questions were misguided but they were their questions. If the culture is wrong, if the management team lacks finesse, then your BD perspective may not ‘fly’. That’s not your fault. It may end badly. It’s not a problem. It’s a big hunting ground. Learn, remain positive and get back out there.

The preferred candidate may back down. Or the situation in the company has changed in just a few months. Now it's good if you are remembered fondly and have ended the conversation in a binding manner. So get the commitment from the last personal contact with the recruiter that you can contact him again within a defined period of time. In this way, after two years, I was poached by the company, which was initially interested in working together. You see, it works!
