What do you do if assertiveness hinders team collaboration in software project management?

I would welcome assertiveness by team members and the PM if they were related to reinforcing the goals of the project, controlling risks, avoiding unnecessary expenses and preventing scope creep. My mantra is 'Be polite but assertive' which means that even if I were to disagree with someone's position, I would make an effort to explain why I did not agree. However an irrationally stubborn position from anyone, lack of willingness to discuss options and other similar communication blockers should not be mistaken for assertiveness even if they seem to be the case. I would then make an effort to explain why the person's position would hinder the progress of the project and also offer a way out by discussing options.

Begin with developing a comprehensive grasp of Agile principles and techniques. Seek out resources such as books, online courses, and websites dedicated to Agile. It's essential to familiarize yourself with the Agile Manifesto and its 12 guiding principles. This core knowledge will enable you to understand the rationale behind the use of Agile methodologies and the advantages they offer in project management.

When my assertiveness starts getting in the way of teamwork in software project management, I make a point to shift towards empathetic assertiveness. This means first trying to see things from my team's point of view and acknowledging their insights. For example, if I'm really pushing for a certain programming framework and it's causing tension, I'll take a step back. I'll say something like, "I hear your concerns and value your expertise. Let's compare how different frameworks could serve our project goals." This approach not only helps in smoothing over conflicts but also encourages a more collaborative spirit. Agile true meaning is change.. if team ready to accept change no one will face challenges at any point of time.. however sometimes we need to show empathy because in a project delivery we have seen so many real challenge.. when you emphasize your team then they motivated to do more so delivery on time.. Always be grounded understand team requirement along with business then we never face any hindrance

Clearly define roles, responsibilities & project objectives to avoid confusion & conflicts. 5. Help team members understand the difference between assertiveness & aggression & how to strike the right balance. 6. Have private conversations with the individuals for mutual beneficial solutions. 7. Lead by example.
