I am always wary of those that say they have 10 or more years working directly with AI. It is the case that Machine Learning has been around for decades, and sits under the umbrella of AI. There are also further subsets of AI including Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computer Vision and Generative AI (GenAI). The trouble is when someone says they have been working for 10 years in GenAI, which is different from the overarching industry of AI. There is a subtle distinction that swindlers are enjoying the benefits of.

When I am interviewing a candidate, I am always on lookout for one thing, apart from the skillset of the candidate. I always try to find out how they are treating others, not me. As well, minimum requirements need to be defined. if those are not met a candidate will need to be outqualified. if they are all met, he/she shall be compared against other candidates and those with the highest ranking will be picked. On top, the overall gut feeling shall also be considered when making the final decision - even the highest scoring candidate may not be the best fitting.
