It is quite important to define inspection chambers in the pipeline length which can accommodate other accesories such as venting valves or vacuum-breakers. If not already in-place, it is recommended to perform a Hot Tapping to the line and search for the highest points to install such items. These items are very handy when a problem arises. For example, draining the line without a pig would require vaccuum trucks or positive gravity displacement, but you will always find a lower part of the pipe which would require more "manual" solutions and hence, removing the air or letting the air enter the pipe would be a must. What would happen to the local population if you do require to let air enter the pipe without mufflers??? Think about it.
