Different types of Data Engineering Jobs: 1. Big Data Engineer - Scaled infrastructure based on Hadoop architecture and related tech stack 2. Cloud Data Engineer - Working with Cloud data warehouse , mostly SaaS apps with no overhead to maintain the Infrastructure 3. ETL/ELT - working mainly on Extract , transform and load making the analytics ready data 4. Data Integration Engineer: Working mainly with EL part of ELT , using Python or GUI based apps to deliver data to a data lake 5. Analytics Engineer - working mainly with 'T' of ELT , transformation on an existing Lakehouse or data lake data However I feel , all the above roles are overlapping ones and a data engineer in general can and will fit in most of the roles. Data Warehouse Engineer basically means one needs to manage the database, understand the requirement and suggest whether we should go for ETL or ELT kind of system. How one can leverage MPP models of warehouse to suit our business needs. We should know about data governance and data classification rules, masking, encryption and sensitive data concepts and how to integrate them in our warehouse. Scaling of the system and integration with tools like python, dbt, etc

People are moving towards delta lake and it is better to focus on delta lake. 2 main reasons are schema handling and data consistency. Schema Handling: Data Lake: Schema-on-read, meaning schema flexibility, but the schema is applied at the time of data retrieval. Delta Lake: Schema-on-write, enforcing a predefined schema when data is written into the lake. Data Consistency: Data Lake: Does not inherently provide ACID transactions, so ensuring data consistency is more challenging. Delta Lake: Provides ACID transactions, ensuring data consistency and reliability.

This is more of an non-technical role, but getting to be more and more technical. There has to be an interface from the business to technical people, which is what they provide

Data analysts are very helpful to perform data validation before and after the work of the data scientists. A data analyst has the business expertise (as well as technical knowledge) to infer if the collected data has the necessary characteristics to meet the needs of the data scientists, and most importantly, to infer if the output data created by the data science models is in fact valuable and generates relevant insights to the business.

Data Analyst is the second step after Data Engineering in business world, basically once data engineer cleans and provide the business related datasets to Data Analyst, then they take it from there. With the advent of GenAI, the data scientist role has taken a different meaning where understanding the LLM in depth is the key. There is still a significant opportunity for traditional data scientist to build models.

The responsibilities of this role differ depending on each individual company and team within the company itself. For example, "product" data scientists will traditionally focus on A/B testing, causal inference, and metrics, while data scientists working on data products will need to have familiarity with ML Engineering and traditional Software Engineering topics (e.g. system design, observability, etc.). One my experience the Data Scientist need to be more aware of the business domain and understand when the data is giving results as luck and dont explain a model of reality, Also this position i dont think is part of data engreniering but need to know the basics.
