New joiners should be informed about the degree to which the cyber security behaviors stay close to the organization's values. There goes the saying - Cyber Security is only as strong as the weakest link. Hence along with the technical defense, cyber security culture plays an equally important role in maintaining the organizational security posture.

From my experience, the foundation of a strong cybersecurity culture begins with leadership. Leaders not only set policies but also act as role models in demonstrating the importance of cybersecurity. By embodying proactive security behaviors, leaders instill a culture that permeates every level of the organization. This top-down approach is essential because when employees see their leaders prioritizing cybersecurity, they understand its significance and are more likely to adopt similar attitudes. Tools like surveys and audits are important, but the real change starts with leaders who recognize and promote cybersecurity in their daily actions and decisions.

This is quite a subjective aspect of measurement but very important in building a resilient organization that is aware of the constantly changing cybersecurity threat landscape. Cybersecurity may be at its highest when people no longer think about it. When it becomes part of their automatic thinking and daily behavior, and when everyone knows what to do and when, you most likely have successfully implemented your cybersecurity IT strategy. When your systems, checkpoints, alerts, procedures, automations, best practices, etc., are in place and effective, you only need to keep updating.
