I always advise people to do research about the company the more you know the better. Also ask around if you know people who works at the company ask them how is it to work for the company what does the job entail if they can give you advise.

Don't lie to your employer or your customers. Things will play out the best possible way and sometime you will find that people are willing to work with you. Regarding customers - be honest - don't lie regarding status of an order or some other error - customer's not always like you you may have to say - but you do the best that you can and work with them.

A person should be honest in everything: otherwise, the person is trying to hide something. Eventually, false statements that person had made about themselves will come around. It may come quickly or not, but time will tell. Watch what they say and how they say it. If you don’t know how to do something, come out and say but give explanation on how you can learn to do it. Give examples of similar situations and how you overcome it in the past.

In the world of customer service, specifically within software, what distinguishes so many candidates from the rest of the pack is their ability to learn and their personality. Treat your customer how you want to be treated. Always be nice, kind, respectful, and transparent to them. Customers will have expectations of what should be delivered in most instances. Some customers are not nice though you should be respectfully. It is not easy to let your guard down and go ballistic as they are towards you, but you need to guard your tongue. Always follow up - whether with a future employer or customers. Very important! It shows your are interested. It tells your customer that they are important to you. Keeping a customer updated on what is occurring is very important and not knowing or getting back to a customer will make things more difficult. Get back to them before they have to call you.

The follow up is very important if you want to let know the customer that you really care about their case. If you let them without a follow up they will doubt of your work and will have a negative feedback on your business.

You always have to be grateful. Companies offer you opportunities and If they go well, great, if not it is an opportunity to learn and reinforce your personality and skills. But you must always be courteous and polite.

The interviewer-interviewee relationship must be with adequate follow-up, that is, we must be grateful for considering your request and we must also be grateful for taking the company into account. In the customer service position, providing personal follow-up to the customer gives them the possibility of having confidence in returning, since the staff cares about providing good service.

Respect the other person's time. Make sure that you know how to ask the right questions to effectively and efficiently determine what the actual problem is. Once you know what the crux of the problem is, it will be easier and faster to come up with a solution. Also, demonstrate a willingness to help. Avoid making it feel like an interrogation or having an accusatory tone. Show them that you ask because you care.

You must be a people person - adapt to every situation differently. I decided to solely write out my personal opinion to this matter- you can take with it what you want, and depict what you don’t want, either way this is just my own subjective opinion due to past experiences not only having customer service roles, but having dealt with customer service representatives as well. The number one thing I can say is that NO MATTER WHAT, to please take the time to really read/ listen to what the customer is NEEDING or what their chief complaints are. I can not tell you how many times I’ve had numerous conversations with people in this industry who are so focused on trying to quickly get thru their convo, that they do not take the time to read or listen to what my initial issue was. This has even happened on chats!
