This is one of the most important aspects of a provider decision and one that I've seen too many new entrants into the cloud world gloss over. This should the second most important aspect of your research after you are fully aware of WHY and WHAT you are expecting from the cloud.

One MAJOR step that I've witnessed a number of technologists overlook when shopping cloud services is the true reason behind their wish to move to a cloud model. Depending on WHY and WHAT you want to push to the cloud, some services are a better fit. Don't be afraid to put your real needs above the "idea" of moving to a cloud service, and ask the provider to demonstrate how their offering is the best option to meet that need.
