Since it is purely subjective matter, assessment requires to go deep into the psychological mindset of the patients. Most lay persons have no idea what constitutes quality research or how to read and understand scholarly articles. My neighbor had this medicine/treatment/surgery and they're fine now. Educating the public about the facts is essential but must be done respectfully. No one wants to appear ignorant. Thus, healthcare professionals must educate the public about sources of information, and help them make sense of it.
