Pick ones that you can attend in person. Networking and collaboration is so much better in person. I've missed many a session for much better growth through engaging others over coffee.

INCOSE organizes two annual events: International Symposium (IS) in July, and International Workshop (IW) in January. They are important gatherings of systems engineers from all over the world. International Systems Conference SYSCON, Conference on Systems Engineering Research CSER, Institute of Industrial&Systems Engineering (IISE) Annual Conference are some other noteworthy events that you may consider attending.

- Most importantly, the conference must be the technology area that broadens your horizons and adds to your expertise and is relevant to the products and/or services your company provides or makes use of. - As an example, if you are an L2/L3 routing expert working for a router equipment vendor then an IETF may be a good conference. If you are a BSS/OSS company then a TMForum conference may be one. - And if you are a researcher then, you might find an IEEE conference (like IEEE GlobeComm for communication) in your area very useful.

The biggest mistake I made during the first vehicle architecture software design I did was incorporating a non-deterministic TCP/IP buffer into a high priority task on an RTOS for a mission critical system. Pour être pleinement fructueux, ces échanges ne doivent pas être superficiels et doivent s’inscrire dans la durée, au travers de la construction d’un réseau relationnel qui ne peut se limiter à quelques discussions virtuelles déshumanisées. Une conférence est un moyen unique pour construire un tel réseau, bien souvent au hasard des rencontres. ?a m’a permis de rencontrer des personnes que j’estime, avec qui j’ai régulièrement l’occasion d’échanger, et qui sont même parfois devenus des amis.

The whole point of attending conferences is to build and strengthen your network. It is not always true to go to conferences which totally fulfill our requirements. Many a times one learns something unexpectedly new from the conferences one was not planning to attend. So no doubt interesting subject is important but one must also consider; place, city of conference, travel time, convenience, is one free, cost of attending, speakers and probable participants etc.
