During my working life with MRP systems up to 2015 I found that development was slow and diffcult to give adequate priority. Most systems I saw didn't have onboard processes to maintain supplier leadtimes with reference to previous experience. Added to this, only a few had 'dock to stock' leadtimes to cover the period between delivery from supplier and inventory availability. That meant that MRP could recommend orders with due dates that were completely unrealistic in terms of getting the supplied goods out onto the shop floor.
