Use photos or graphics that illustrate the story you are telling within your workshop. Visuals that help tell the story engage the participant in a more personal way thus creating a bond of trust with them. I returned to a city to facilitate two workshops where I lived for 17 years but it wasn't in my bio nor was I introduced as having lived there. A short way into my talk, I put up a photo of a main intersection in town, explained it's impact on me which let them know I had some roots there. You could see the instant connection.

There's no section for more thoughts so I'm writing it here :) One approach is to have your participants contribute to the summary. Don't make this too formal, make it interactive. Use an activity as a close out to have people come up with their AHA moments, maybe what was one thing they learned they are going to put into action right away. Incorporating these into a workshop recap can be a great way to bring the participants back into closing the loop. I will do this a lot of time and add it to my overall recap which is sent out afterwards with the recording.
