I'm always weary of normative evaluation of art. Who can be the judge? Is the discussion about art not a goal in itself? Can art and it's impact be measured? I once read that art should inspire discussion and dialogue, and I believe that evaluation can stop this dialogue since it can lead to unnecessary frustration. If we start judging what is 'good' and 'bad' in art, won't this lead to a generic form of art in the end? One that we can judge before it even exists because it ticks all the boxes of what public art should be if it wants to be 'good'? That would be detrimental, in my opinion, to what art should be. Please let there be 'bad' art, 'ugly' art, 'angry' art, 'useless' art. None of those exist, all art is.

It should relate to people's everyday lives and cultural memories. People's attachment to places is intangible. If this is supposed to be physically created, then artworks should relate to their neighbourhood/residence/public space/daily activities

Interesting to consider Art and its definition; the expression of creative skill, works produced, creative activity, subjects of study, so many applications of the practice of art in our environment, A building, an urban or open space, an object in the landscape? The landscape itself? Or is it just an object of our work created by us? For others? Is it the actual process in which we create shared by all individuals expressed in our lives. The best example of art in my opinion is to realize the created world earth in which we live and evolve. Its master planner is so awesomely obvious, we tend not to understand it, even its majesty providing our life’s existence in perfect balance, to see we are made in that image by the Ultimate maker!

It might be good to review a piece of public art, but the question is; what are you going to do with the data? It might be interesting and valuable to publish various opinions and open up peoples minds. Or might help with maintenance. But it should never be a way to alter or remove the art due to the public opinion about it. Something we hate today can be of great value tomorrow.
