I started shooting digitally in 1994. I always shoot tethered and have never used a lightmeter in my studio ever again. Especially for accurate reproduction photography a separate lightmeter is pretty much useless compared to measuring a colorchecker in the image.

We have to remember that laboratories print machines generally print photo in JPEG format and not raw or tiff. So at the end of editing process we can change file format to JPEG. This file changing format losses or extricate some data which is not Irreversible. If we are not sure about the editing results, it is recommended to have the original photo in raw or tiff so as to re-edit as clients want.

- In my experience, when shooting big events, it's really important to export your photos in a smaller size, like under 2 or 3 megabytes. This is because people using these photos might need to upload or send them to places with active file size limits. Also, remember that these photos are usually just for viewing and evoking emotion, not for ultra-high-quality images that you'd put on a big banner or something. For that, you'd do a separate export.
Shoot in RAW as it will give you the most amount of information to use for editing. I use several editing softwares depending on my needs. Photoshop is the most robust editing software but it can take time to learn. Once you learn photoshop, your creative possibilities are endless. But again, the learning curve can be tough for some. I sort my photos in photomechanics. It's much faster than lightroom I find.

I use naturally light. Majority of my photos are of nature, landscapes and wildlife. It is very easy to over edit a natural light photo and then make it look fake. As the contrast between subject and background can be very distinct. I think the lighting used depends on what your end goal for the photo is, the location (indoors or outdoors), time of day, the subject you are taking a photo of. Photography has no rules, but it allows you to manipulate a lot of variables. Always keep the end goal of the photo in mind, when deciding on lighting and editing of the photo.

Anyways, here is my take : To manage your assets, make a backup of your files (create folders with Names, session date, location and other details that will help locating them easily. And backup the backup !. It can be cost intensive, however when your files are gone, no amount can bring them back intact.
