Cut through the chase and clearly come to the point. Time is scarce and should be respected. People also look for those who demonstrate the deep understanding of the organisation and business. If not, there is a high chance of losing interest.

Customers are human beings, with working lives and personal lives and all the ups and downs those both bring for us all. So treat your clients like human beings. If you were a customer, you'd want the other person to have done some basic research, so do that. But don't waste your time or theirs trying to impress or use unnecessary jargon. If we are expected to make a presentation on our capabilities/product lines, it certainly needs lot of prep and practice to ensure we tweak the deck to convey the most appropriate message for that client. Similar to @Najmul Haque response, we researched the client's culture before attending an onsite meeting. Consequently, we mirrored their approach very well. Whereas a competitor turned up who looked and sounded very different to the client. Needless to say, we got the job - and went on to develop an outstanding relationship with the client. Again, it's not rocket science. It's simple respect for the person or group you are meeting. First impressions count. People buy from people.

In my experience, it is best to be yourself with a neat business dressing. Nothing flashy! I have seen some going overboard and getting exposed within minutes of their conversation.

It is not realistic to deliver value on the first meeting. Instead if we simply listen to the client, clarify to understand their real pain points with an intention to help. Without accurately knowing the problem or drawing out the problem. We can't add real value

Actually I disagree that this should be below "dress appropriately". This should be among the top 3. You need to deliver value to your client. No matter how prepared you are, how much you know the client, how good you look, if what you offer doesn't bring value to the client, you will not be able to sell it to the client. That's the mistake a few program managers make when they put together their plans and I have recently seen it first hand how a new program manager made such simple blunder even though on paper, he checked off all the items that a PM should demonstrate (experience, knowledge, preparation, etc.)

I have mostly used my first meetings to listen more and understand them and their business needs. We might not have all the "right" solutions or answers for them right away, but if we hear them well, we can always craft one soon. As humans, clients also accept the fact that we are not knowledgeable on all areas, so it is best to use that space.

Being authentic and consistent will give lot of confidence among clients, always be honest and transparent while communicating about status updates and understanding the concerns from clients will also help to better with stakeholders

Nothing to beat the originality in our discussion/presentation. If it comes from the heart, listeners understand and they value it. Anything else will be seen as "over-selling" and can cost the relationship.

Being genuine and coherent goes a long way in building and nurturing any relationship. It is okay not to know everything but not fine to misguide. It always payoff in the long run making you and your organization most trusted partner or advisor.
