Take a stand. In the editing world, there are many schools of thought that may differ slightly from each other. In many cases you may be able to avoid having to take a stand between the various options, but eventually there will be a moment when you have to decide where you stand. As an editor, you must hone your ability to not only have the latest insights but also have a strong professional foundation so that you can make choices that you believe in. It is not uncommon for clients to also need answers to questions about various editing options, and you must be able to make choices that are convincing so that clients do not hesitate when they get objections from others.
