As an endpoint architect, the scripting language which I use the most is PowerShell. I have used pre-created scripts provided by the endpoint community and wrote some of my own to automate a lot of stuff. My approach is to script smaller parts and then combine them in the correct sequence.

I chose PowerShell as my starting point. If you work a lot with Microsoft tools and services, most of them have their own module and with the Graph API you have access to the features of the cloud.

Be careful not to rely too heavily on any particular tool, because doing so will only make your life that much harder when you're inevitably in a situation where you don't have those tools available. I'm not saying that you should use ed as your code editor, but the language will become more familiar if you actually write the commands out instead of using autocomplete.
