An essential point not really covered in this article is regular inspection. Conduct routine checks on mechanical components to identify wear or damage. Consistent inspections ensure early detection of issues, preventing potential hazards and maintaining the overall safety and functionality of the transportation equipment. If this equipment is a vehicle, I use the IAM RoadSmart 'POWDERY' acronym: check the Petrol (or diesel or battery charge), Oils, Water (radiator, windscreen washers), check for Damage, check the Electrics (including lights), Rubber (tyres and wipers) and Yourself (are you fit to drive?).
