You need to work in Laboratory,read the literature take guidance from your senior peers and adopt the existing practices. A good materials synthesis and processing require you to be like a good cook you have to adjust the recipe according to your own understanding and practice.

In 2009 I did unified theory of nanopowders and composites. It was with online data and MIT Opencourseware, it has now been accepted half way across the world and also all other places. In 35 years of materials synthesis and processing it is now clear performance. It is synthesis of nanopowders and composites. I am aware that callister is widely used as a textbook. I have perused Materials Science and Engineering by Smith, Hashemi and Ravi. Prakash. I have used Van Vlack since 1990. These are for concepts and not reference. They are good to build up for a take off. I have used various texts and journals for a long time. I need concepts for research in processing, I also have my own notes from bachelor's, 2 master' degrees and doctoral materials. Then there I consult journals available to me. These are the books and journals on my side.
