In my experience with pretty severe nearsightedness, I find myself leaning into design options that lack fine details and stand pretty boldly within their purer forms. the more things my eyes have to focus on at a distance means less information a design can give me. So not necessarily Minimal, but clean and poignant. In designing for accessibility for color blindness, it's important to think not just about the color combinations that may effect those with Protanopia, Deuteranopia, or only able to see monochromatically, BUT also the materials and contrasts being used to support the logo on printed or digital collateral. sometimes colors that give trouble to some can appear totally differently when applied to new materials. contrast!!

It's not only the actual shapes of elements, but the positioning of them. It is a fact that if you swap two icons over on a user interface that has become familiar to people (like their phone), they will repeatedly press the wrong icon because they remember WHERE it was more than WHAT it was. Muscle memory and familiarity should not be ignored when making changes as re-learning slows users down and causes extra work. This is vital to remember for people who don't see detail but important to everybody.

Research and get to know your audience. It might mean you end actually up doing less work. For instance, if you're doing a website or print material for an eye hospital, you'll can focus (no pun) on your viewer's needs more specifically than trying to cover everybody. Remember that something designed specifically for people with low vision can also be read by everyone else, but the reverse is not true.
