I am using WebGLEarth.com for my project. I think It is perfect and minimized. Its syntax is like Leaflet but not support all methods. That is light weight and works in the most of cases we need. I use web-gl-earth only for streets and road in details. For big pictures I use projection maps powered by D3.js library.
