This is core to improving safety or any problem. Diagnosis of the issue / problem and identification of the causative elements will help you understand how to approach fixing the different causative elements. Whilst there will be hardware or systems (ways of working) issues there will also be the person - their behavior, attitude etc. Worth understanding if its a skill/aptitude issue ( they do not know how) or a will/attitude issue (they are choosing not to do it). The skill gaps are easier to tackle, the will gaps require more care as there could be cultural elements, leadership issues or attitude issues of the individual that require sorting out differently.

If there is poor management, there are rules to follow safety and in parallel produce more and more value which makes it difficult for employees to do it at the same time following rules. Because the problem may not be the rules but something else.

Consequence management may be negative or positive but must be in place in any organisation.

Choosing the correct approach and adapting to their style is crucial to success. The strategy of calling out a team member in the morning huddle will often backfire and create a hostile culture. Take the time to speak to the person one-on-one; it could still be on the floor for others to see. Just be a good human about it, and you may get yourself a new cheerleader to make life better for all!

As I was saying in my previous point. In order to make a person do something, you need to make it interesting. If you have something boring, people will accept it as boring and will just do it, because the boss says so. If you make it interesting, like a game or so, people will do it. So be creative and don’t reinFORCE safe behavior, but make the safe behavior an interesting thing that everyone would like.

First to explain the danger and consequencies(for his/her life) what can cause not respecting the safety rules (health, financial problem of the family etc). Then non stop giving to the employees the positive and example behavior keeping the rules (all managers level in front with the General Manager). Third to explain that it is not allowed for anybody not respecting any (safety) rules at the company. Everone is equal at the company, so all employees MUST respect the rules.

Acredito que discutir em reuni?es e em DDS os casos de acidentes já ocorridos (se possível detalhar a investiga??o e a análise do caso) para manter todos em alerta e realizar a troca de experiência de seguran?a entre a equipe. Nada melhor quando os líderes mostram que a cultura de seguran?a é mais importante até que o conhecimento técnico, uma vez que esse último pode ser ensinado. Ter em mente que um acidente gera perdas para o setor e para a organiza??o, mas a maior perda é para o acidentado e sua família.
