What are the best ways to assertively negotiate a salary without burning bridges?

I am one of the victims, being an orphan and no one to support me or advice me I found myself in that situation. Some companies even refused to hire me, based on then salary. They would tell me straight we can't give over 100% salary increase. It was painful. However over the years, I went back to school and acquired more skills. I also learnt not to be desperate, my salary grew by almost 110% within two years. I learnt to negotiate and sell myself. Currently am at a space where recruiters ask me how much I want, and can we negotiate. I don't apply that much for jobs I get approached and it's a nice feeling. Lesson, work hard, gain experience, learn new skills, aquire short courses certificates,and lean to negotiate.

There is more to the compensation you can get for your work than just the salary. It is obviously an important part of the package but one shouldn't neglect the other components of said package. For instance the hiring company could give you access to expensive training specifically tailored for your line of business which would then increase your value on the market. You could negotiate extra vacation days or a funding to settle you home office... Approach the negotiation process with an open mind and you'll see the many benefits you could get along with your salary.
