I recommend reviewing common failures in whatever methodology you are moving to. In most cases the pitfalls and work arounds of most methodologies are well documented. Try to understand why the new methodology was chosen - what outcome is desired. With this knowledge, you can "fill in the gaps" and make things more successful. Avoid "When we" or "In the other methodology" stories. Now that you are in a new methodology, you need to think about how to make it happen here, not in the old system. Be an advocate for the new system.

Remember that there are no certain rules when it comes to software engineering; just knowledge and experience. Different companies and groups often create their own software engineering methods, suitable for their own culture, environment, ... . Your job will be to acquire some basic knowledge (which is honestly all there is) and then try to understand your team and your organization's flow of engineering.

There's a nice saying that I always reflect on when dealing with a new management style, "the person in front of me knows something I don't". This has helped me often to try and look at things from the other person's perspective and figure out why they might be approaching things the way they are. And if I still think that something isn't quite right, I used this phrase to try and open a conversation and figure out a different approach, or to voice my opinion without creating a conflict with my manager or team lead.

I totally agree with this. From my experience it is perhaps THE most important aspect to learning something new. One can always rely on past knowledge but in any new enterprise we should allways keep an open mind and not be too attached to the way things were done previously.

When doing the retros, these three simple questions work well: What did you like?, What did you lack and What did you learn?. After each team member presents their post-its you can then have a group discussion around any red threads or very important findings, then generalize the findings and turn them into actions or working principles. I don't want to discourage people from seeking support (you absolutely should). However, don't be the person who passes an issue on to someone else if you don't immediately know the answer. I've found that if you make an honest attempt at understanding the problem and can clearly communicate where you need assistance, you will save a lot of time and receive better/faster support. In other words, don't be the boy who cried wolf.
