In my experience as a patient w lupus (not as the PA I am ) involving multiple specialists care (even within the same office) providers fail miserably communicating with each other as well as the patient. No one writes scripts anymore so that opportunity of handing the script w an explanation is even gone. And EMRs are just templates, that providers click on…most systems not really even done, documented falsely. Miss the old days of writing scripts and H&Ps!!!!

I email providers daily. I've found it best to communicate your request with brief but detailed information regarding a patients condition. State what you need or recommend. Leave out note bloat. Doing these things tells the clinician what they need to respond to your email and shows that you value thier time.
