What are the best tips for managing indecisive clients during a photo selection?

It’s always great to have samples. If you have a mood/style board to show variations, you can clarify and select based on that you can zero in on expectations. After that, being clear about the deliverables (how many, file type and rights) will be clearer. Make sure to be VERY clear that the final shot will not be exactly like the samples.

Absolutely correct. However it makes sense to analyze and understand the lack of decision making. Are the photos too similar? Too different representing something else? Don’t push but be professional in the approach of helping them if wished and adequate or also in letting them just take the time they need. You have to understand the why.

You could consider implementing a structured decision-making process. Provide them with a questionnaire or a brief to understand their preferences and requirements better. Use your expertise to recommend choices based on the client's stated goals. Offer a comparison of selected photos to help them visualize the differences. Set deadlines for decision-making to keep the project on track. Also, educate them about the impact of their choices on the final product. If possible, show examples of how different selections have worked for similar projects. Lastly, maintain a professional yet empathetic approach, understanding that for many clients, photo selection can be a challenging part of the process.
