It should illustrate why or which particular behavior is being appreciated and highlight how it directly contributes to the organizational mission or team objectives. This is true for nonprofits but also other contexts like business, family or social circle.

Recognizing and appreciating nonprofit team members is essential. Nonprofits often face demanding, stressful situations with limited compensation and feedback. Leaders should prioritize gratitude through verbal praise, notes, awards, gifts, or celebrations. This fosters team morale, loyalty, and engagement, crucial for success. Cultivating a healthy nonprofit team also requires active, inclusive listening. Every member, from entry-level to executive board, and even dedicated volunteers, deserves to be heard. Each voice is unique and valuable, contributing to a more harmonious and effective organization.

All people, in every work environment, want to satisfy a few basic needs. The one we usually think of first is to get paid. But non-profits already know that people are motivated by non-monetary desires as well, to learn, to bond, to feel need and valuable, and more. Not providing these things to a volunteer is the same as not paying a paid worker. If they don't get their "paycheck" of non-monetary value, they won't return. The best way for a non-profit leader to learn what their volunteers need is to ASK THEM, because the entire volunteer work force will not be there for the same reason. As a bonus, the added value of asking each individual why they are there is already meeting their other needs!

Info: Communicate the progress & praise the effort 7. Mentor: Take help in mentoring new & challenged Projects 8. Publicize: In local media & platform the Hero
