What are the best programming language resources for application development?

For Frontend Web its just JavaScript so let's talk about Mobile app and Backend server. For mobile app using React Native is good provided the app doesn't have insane complicated features, else use Java and Kotlin. For server, use JavaScript for small scale apps and Java, C# for large scale apps due to their robustness and security mechanisms.

As a motivated self-learner, I have explored multiple platforms such as Udemy, Codecademy, Coursera, and Scrimba. All of these platforms are excellent. There is no singular "right" platform because the internet provides infinite knowledge. Learners should be capable of referring to different sources for various problems. The best way to avoid frustration while learning to code is to find a mentor. Learning platforms can only assist you to a certain extent. To truly grasp coding, you need to dive in, solve problems, and build projects. Without this hands-on experience, it can feel pointless. YouTube is also a great resource, and I personally find the premium version to be better. Try different platforms until you find something that works!

I believe also you need to consider the hosting platform. The final solution consists of networking, application and front end tiers. The selected stacks will be impacted by cloud or not platform because certain cloud providers has a preferred stack for back-end services.

First identify the place where you want to work. If it is a company check it's requirements and learn language from udemy or youtube. Sharp skills in Hackereank or leet code etc If it is freelance then check the trending languages and using udemy or YouTube learn it. I prefer to learn the theory and background and the try to put it into practice as soon as possible. I often might fail at my first few attempts to understand the concepts but then I'll back track a bit, relearn and reapply until I feel comfortable moving on. Text based learning is often faster than video based instruction.

Although I don't program much anymore I still like to discover new development techniques, which include languages. As I have many years experience I prefere to skip the basics and dive into the aspects of the language that bring benefits over other languages. After that I like to be guided (with video) through a hands-on example that covers a full development cycle including devops and source control aspects. Especially for some 4gl and lowcode languages these cam be tricky aspects.

I'll prefer to learn from very basic to advance level with projects. You should focus on understanding any skills from actual documentation. I'm not sure my learning style will influence the way I select a programming language to use. My learning style may not be relevant if I am building a development team around me. I would be more interested in the wide spread adoption of a language and whether there is a large, vibrant and active community around the language that we can learn from.

At this point in my career I tend to benefit most effectively from videos that show tech I with which I may not yet be familiar as I'm designing. This allows me to consider different ways to solution while applying my experience in architecting solutions. As I find gaps in my knowledge, I'll dig into demonstrations of code with my own dev environment open to practice as I'm watching. Once I have working code for parts I may not have used previously I'll build the capabilities and wire them together within the design until I have a viable product and then I'll share it with one or more peers to get some feedback before going farther. I try to get the feedback loops working early in the process so the customer has input opportunity.

Focus on learning concepts instead of the language. If you understand the concepts, you can implement most things in any language. Being a language or platform bigot quickly becomes a straight jacket.

You gotta love what you are doing; else you will never get any better than just "average". Life is too short to spend a lot of time learning something like programming if you just want to be average. I will also say that you need to look beyond just programming languages. If you want to build mobile apps you should also look into areas such as Design, UX (or as us old timers called it HCI), communication skills, etc.
