As a researcher, I want my work to reach other researchers in my field and beyond who can take my work and vision to the next level. Perhaps other researchers see what I've done from a different angle and they can then open a new doorway to advancing science and technology. Of course, I wish to comply with the requests and policies of any funders and insitutions I might work with. I do indeed wish to see my work downloaded and cited as frequently as possible (what researcher doesn't), but my ultimate goal is knowing my work served as a pivotal stepping stone to the next big discovery or development in science and technology, even if that means a modest quantity of citations.

I for one believe that the more media platforms one can contribute to, the better. I personally would love to know that I have contributions in as many of the media as possible. I would feel more well-rounded knowing I can reach fellow researchers via publications, repositories and books.

I'm in the business of designing a better mousetrap, validating it's efficacy, and leveraging it's opportunity in an aggressive market. I'm not interested in sharing trade secrets in the sleightest. That said much of my intuition or initial assumptions comes from reading white papers on food processing, food characterization, automation, and machine design so grad students writing thesis and dissertations deserve credit for their work, Thing is the crossover knowledge gained in testing and validating/ruling out assumptions after is too valuable. Why would I share this with others?

I believe it is truly important to abide by the requirements requested by different media platforms (i.e. journals or books) and funders as this ensures clarity in expectations and organization in the collected material. I believe this can also help the reader by making content systematic which can help reduce reading stress for researchers seeking to get the most from the media's content without having to approach new articles in the same media platform with suspense in not knowing how material is going to be presented next.

Once you have published your R&D outputs in an open access outlet, you need to promote your work and increase its visibility and impact.
