Three things I have found helpful in Reviewing Literature, 1. Is to develop a list of Key words. Such Topical related keywords can work as a guide which will help you look for current content. Usually literature cited in the last 5 years is 2. Depending on your topic, your literature review citations must not go beyond a 10 year gap, unless the journal article seems really useful or when your are citations is of a theory Let's say Theory of Planned Behavior by Ajzen (1991) 3. Using qualitative software ware like Atlas.ti will not only make your work easy but, also make you discover other gaps in the literature for future studies. WHY NOT! Follow Me and write along.
