1 Define your learning objectives

Before you create any AR assessment, you need to define your learning objectives. What do you want your learners to achieve after completing the AR activity? How will you align your assessment with your learning outcomes? Learning objectives should be specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART). They should also reflect the level of cognitive, affective, or psychomotor skills that you want to evaluate. For example, do you want to assess your learners' knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, or evaluation of the AR content?

Well, I am not big fan of AR. After looking in Apple’s device review people are complaining about headaches and motion sickness, if people are having issue over the entertainment with this technology, in that case I am not sure they will read over these devices. For computer and tabs I think 3D is doing great there.

The best methods for assessing students using Augmented Reality (AR) in E-Learning are ones you & the students are used to. Unless you are assessing the student's ability to use AR, then you don't need to build the assessment into the AR system. You can use conventional online assessment tools, before, & after AR sessions. Also keep in mind that not all students can use AR, & you are required by law, in many countries, to provide alternative forms of learning & assessment.

2 Choose your assessment type

Depending on your learning objectives, you can choose different types of AR assessments. Quizzes are a popular assessment tool that can measure recall, recognition, or understanding of the AR content. Questions can be multiple-choice, true/false, matching, or fill-in-the-blank. Alternatively, scenarios are complex situations that can measure application, analysis, synthesis, or evaluation of the AR content. Branching, feedback, or scoring mechanisms can be used to assess decision-making, problem-solving, or critical thinking skills. Lastly, portfolios are collections of evidence that can measure progress, achievement, or reflection of the AR content. Photos, videos, audio recordings, or annotations can be used to assess performance, creativity, or self-awareness. These assessments can be embedded into the AR environment or delivered separately after the AR activity.
