Additionally, you should define the criteria and indicators that you will use to evaluate each goal - such as surveys, feedback, analytics, tests, or ratings - in order to ensure an accurate assessment.

Au delà de la performance de la plateforme, il conviendra lors de l'évaluation d'y apporter un regard approfondi sur l'accès à celle ci. En effet, la notion de digital learning est de plus en plus présente et l'on a hélas trop souvent tendance à oublier ou négliger les contraintes d'accès aux ressources pédagogiques, que ce soit au niveau des règles de sécurité (popup, accès aux URL, ...) Que tout simplement de la ma?trise de l'outil informatique de l'apprenant. Cela fait maintenant une dizaine d'années que je travaille avec ces outils et je suis de plus en plus confronté à ce type de problématique. De mon point de vue, je pense que les LMS ou LCMS sont de formidables outils d'enseignement mais attention à ne pas tomber dans la facilité.

It is important for learning professionals to move away from the green check- it was completed therefore it was a success thinking. Yes it is important for the learner to enjoy the learning, but did learning actually occur. Can the user apply what they learned to their life or job? Is there a change in behavior? These two questions should always be a constant in your evaluation strategy.

You can use different evaluation methods to collect and analyze data about your LMS, such as user testing, surveys and feedback, analytics and reports, and benchmarking. Analytics and reports on usage is a key indicator of learning effectiveness. It can show you how many repeat users you have (or not have). Returning users can indicate that the learner found the previous courses helpful and looking to learn more. Analytics can also identify the most popular topics or media which can guide the development of future learnings.

3 Plan and conduct your evaluation

Once you have chosen your evaluation methods, you need to plan and conduct your evaluation in a systematic and ethical way. This includes defining your target audience and sample size, designing your evaluation tools and instruments, conducting your evaluation activities, and recording and organizing your data. Identifying patterns, trends, correlations, or causal relationships in your data will help guide your learning strategy. This data can indicate how interested a user is in the content, how often or when they engage, did they take one course and then complete the recommended course. Did they only visit once and never return again- could that imply they did not find the source valuable or a good use of time.

5 Communicate and share your findings

The final step of your LMS evaluation is to communicate and share your findings with stakeholders and audiences, such as learners, instructors, managers, or partners. To do this, you should define communication objectives and strategies, prepare materials and resources, deliver and distribute the communication, and evaluate and improve it. Decide what you want to achieve with the communication and how you want to achieve it. Choose the channels, formats, and styles that you will use. Create or adapt materials and resources for the communication which should be clear, concise, and consistent with the objectives. Deliver and distribute according to plan, schedule, and budget while following ethical principles. Evaluate based on feedback from stakeholders and audiences while measuring the effectiveness and impact of your communication. Identify challenges and opportunities for improvement.
