Alt Text is a really great way to help people with screen readers feel included in your work. On my blog I always include Alt Text on my images. And I give detailed descriptions... How many people are in the pic, if it's a cartoon or clipart, colours used, objects in the pic etc. I also include captions with images to help tell the story of the text I used. Not only are these great practices for screen readers, but they also help improve the Accessibility and SEO scores on your website.

A while back I completed 5 writing articles for a gaming site. I had to: * Reduce the size of the pics. * Save all pics as JPEG. * Set image widths the same so they are uniform on the site. I had to follow lots of rules that were a bit challenging in the beginning. But after a while I got to understand why those things were done and started doing them automatically. These practices really do help with loading time of articles and reducing bandwidth used.

Or light text on light backgrounds. Make sure to choose fonts that are easy to read. Some fonts work better as short titles rather than descriptions or for writing paragraphs. Some fonts may not suit letters at all and may read better when numbering items. If your background is an image with different colours, you may need to put a colour behind your text so it pops and is legible on all the colours of your photo.
