Product owner is a sole person who is responsible for managing the product backlog(requirement backlog) , clearly responsible for product backlog items -Ordering the items in the product backlog to best achieve goals Optimizing the value of the work development items perfom ensuring that the product backlog is visible , transparent and clear to all. A product owner is the via media between the Stakeholders or the Customers and the Scrum team. They are the one who owns the product backlog. They ensure the vision and product goals are clear to the team and meet the expectations set by the customers which helps in time and hassle free delivery gaining customers confidence and strengthen the Business relations.

Note- there is no exam. So, it is more of "pay-to-earn" certification. This is not a criticism of the training. I still highly recommend it to any BA/PM looking to get into the product space.

Product owner need to be thoroughly hands-on with product features. Product owner need to create new story if more impacted use cases are discovered in the middle of the sprint. Product owner should be capable of splitting stories per the velocity of the team Product owner should be able to create user story even for infra structure projects. This really is a litmus test.
