I look at complexity from a trade off perspective. What is that you would like to compromise on or would be better to settle for? If you’re able to optimise both resources and time, nothing like it. But in most of the cases one of them will take a hit. And that’s when complexity analysis helps you take the right decisions. I can't agree completely with that. Having coding rules is important, especially for team work, but for me the most important is to have a code that is consistent, that the developper can read and like to read. I am a C++ developper and I use the STL, but I really hate how the STL looks.

If there is a bug, how can you track error if the intention of the programmer is not clear? The person who will correct an algorithm or simply adapt for new needs, is not always the original developper. My source comments are written for me and for the others. If I use a published algorithm, write the reference, the name of the algorithm, get a copy of the article, the source may disapear.
