There is no such thing as conflicting usability feedback. Just poorly synthesized or understood usability feedback. If you feel like you have a conflict, perhaps you didn't gather enough information about your participants or their context.

During usability testing for our new logistics platform, we encountered conflicting feedback on the navigation structure. Some users found it simple, while others thought it was confusing. Instead of being discouraged, we analyzed the feedback, identifying patterns and segmenting users by experience level. Recognizing the value of both perspectives, we conducted additional A/B testing with slight navigation variations. This approach helped us refine the design, balancing simplicity with functionality, and satisfying the majority of users. Ultimately, the process deepened our understanding of user needs and led to a more effective solution.

Data that helps inform decisions is great. Research gold. If participants are saying different things - that is data. Maybe it’s that there are different segments with different perspectives, or maybe it’s that the questions were confusing, or that the ask was trivial or very impactful. Bottom line - it’s data, so use it. Don’t assume it’s bad. Figure out why there’s the difference and let that insight guide you to the next round of research.
