This is a tough one. The mindset required and attention required for these two sets of job are completely different. Tendency is to jump at routine tasks as they are important and urgent and needs less attention and probably a lot of dependencies and quick follow ups. It is best to keep aside time at the beginning of the day before the rush starts - may be start the day a little early too- and start the project work. In morning the clarity is better, disturbances less. Also tasks and flow once designed can be delegated in bits and pieces with strong reviews. It is important to get it started and to keep the traction tight amidst busy days
