It’s important to explain why the change is taking place. Im the non-profit space, change is often imposed upon service providers by government funding bodies with little consultation. It can be difficult for front line staff to see the bigger picture, so repeating the why of a change is important. It’s critical to be available to answer questions during any change initiative. You can’t know all the answers so be honest when you don’t know what the answer is and commit to providing the answer as soon as you have all the relevant information. It’s also important to create an environment that allows for failing fast during change initiatives and learning from the mistakes that occur.

To rebuild engagement, provide clear, consistent updates on progress, risks, and decisions. Set a regular communication schedule, so the steering committee feels informed and involved. Actively seek their feedback, address concerns promptly, and show that their input drives meaningful adjustments.

Shared vision will engage all stakeholders. Inclusion is the key. It's about I to WE. Then comes commitment WE to I , accountability provides ownership and purpose. Regular updates, celebrating small wins provides momentum in pursuit of larger vision.
