You must make the employee feel they matter and spend time with them. My employees feel they can approach me and even call me by my first name. I talk to them, and even ask them about their families and personal interests and hobbies. You can have a strong safety culture at your facility but still have safety climates. We had a poster which counted the injury free days. four years ago, I walked up and erased the day count and wrote, "Just worry about today". This remained until a VIP change who demanded the count days returned. I was really shocked when employees approached me and stated they preferred the statement I put up than the number of injury free days.

safety personnel must be aware of risk associated with their working environment , they need to be competed with risk assessment steps. where they need to identity the comprehensive hazards in they workplace, safety training of the personnel play vital role and practical safety developmental courses can enhance skills and makes them to stay up on courses

Granting immunity along with a reporting system to employees is vital for learning about safety hazards in the workplace. Some may have reservations and think it will be a channel where employees can get away with violating protocols but I see it differently. To those I would ask: what is more important? Punishing employees for violating a rule or preventing future injuries or deaths? You must pick one, and I think we all know the right answer.

The integration of relevant systems within the plant will prevent duplication of similar issues. For example the maintenance and safety systems can be integrated to track and consolidate issues raised relating to hazards and risks

As per my opinion, promoting a good and healthy safetu culture is the basic key , because if safery culture of an organisation is string, employees would never fear to report and tgis woild obviously result in fruitfull way.

Nos dias atuais, vemos que a cada dia estamos mais próximos da tecnologia, e uma ferramenta que possa trazer uma informa??o mais rápida e objetiva sempre será bem vinda. A comunica??o sempre será uma ferramenta eficaz na seguran?a do trabalho, ela quando envolve o trabalhador nos traz informa??es que podemos tratar os riscos de maneira mais rápida, eliminado os riscos de acidentes nos locais de trabalho, identificando e tratando de forma segura. Concordo que todos que utilizam a comunica??o, principalmente de forma andragogico, vai trazer benefícios para todos que est?o envolvidos. Por isso que formulários, planilhas estatísticas e outros sempre alavancam para melhor avalia??o da seguran?a.

Involve Employees in Safety Decision-Making. Encourage employee participation in safety committees, incident investigations, and root cause analyses. This will help them feel invested in the safety process and more likely to take ownership of safety issues.

I believe this can be fruitful, but only if you get top management to buy in. If an employee who spots an A-class hazard and stops the plant and top management is more production orientated then safety orientated, I believe that employee will have some serious explaining to do for the total time of lost production. In conclusion, get top management to buy in then I believe employees will be more than willing to do so without any fear...

Quando colocamos algo novo no processo de trabalho para evitar acidentes, sempre se aguarda o retorno para melhor avalia??o do sistema, pois somente assim a melhoria aplicada será aperfei?oada e o objetivo alcan?ado. Tornar ambientes seguros faz parte da seguran?a do trabalho e aplicar melhorias demonstra o comprometimento do setor no ambiente de trabalho, tornando mais seguro para todos.

One critical element of any safety program is to bring the right thing in as close alignment with the easy thing. Communication is so important. Lack of communication = lack of learning. Learning about hazards is how we prevent injuries. Therefore effective communication = preventing injuries. One thing I know for sure is if the process for reporting/communicating is cumbersome or potentially painful in any way shape or form, then some or most employees won’t do it. It must be easy and encouraged, not discouraged.

Utilizing technology to automate the reporting of actionable safety data is a good path forward for any safety program looking to become world class. You should consider wearable technology or mobile technology to help automate and streamline the process. Wearables can help identify unsafe situations before they result in a bad outcome. If you incentivize reporting you may get some non-actionable reports but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Someone submitting reports is at least engaged and trying to participate. Consider incentivizing all reports that lead in the elimination of an unsafe condition.

Take care of their psychological safety & overall well-being. Take time to lend them an ear, and advise accordingly when a problem exists or refer them to the relevant people who might assist. Many times employees are suffering in silence which contributes to a lot of stuff, for instance spotting hazards but not reporting etc.
